OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The employment of workmen by employers under the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (Conferment of Permanent Status to Workmen) Act, 1981, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the employment of workmen by employers is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (Conferment of Permanent Status to Workmen) Act, 1981.

2. The matter has been examined. Every employer carrying on the employment of workmen shall make an application in Form II to the appropriate Government within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the employment of workmen is undertaken, and the appropriate Government shall dispose of it within fifteen days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
