OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The construction of a building in a village by owners of a building in a village under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the construction of a building in a village by owners of a building in a village is to be regulated under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a building in a village carrying on the construction of a building in a village shall make an application in Form 4 to the Gram Sabha within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the construction of a building in a village is undertaken, and the Gram Sabha shall dispose of it within fourteen days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.
