STANDING ORDER

To

All Superintendents of the Home,

Subject: The holding of a beauty contest by organisers of a beauty contest under the Karnataka Devadasis (Prohibition of Dedication) Act, 1982, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Devadasis (Prohibition of Dedication) Act, 1982 (Karnataka Act 1 of 1982), the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of a beauty contest by organisers of a beauty contest.

2. The matter has been examined. Every organiser of a beauty contest carrying on the holding of a beauty contest shall make an application in Form V to the Commission within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The Superintendent of the Home shall ensure that protection order is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Commission within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Karnataka.
