STANDING ORDER

All Assistant Engineers,

Subject: The management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations under the Kerala Ground Water (Control and Regulation) Act, 2002, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Kerala Ground Water (Control and Regulation) Act, 2002 (Kerala Act 19 of 2002), the Home Department, Government of Kerala hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations.

2. The matter has been examined. Every water user association carrying on the management of an irrigation system by a water user association shall make an application in Form H to the Dam Safety Authority within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred and fifty rupees.

3. The Assistant Engineer shall ensure that tube well is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Dam Safety Authority within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of Kerala.
