STANDING ORDER

To

All Patwaris,

Subject: The sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land under the Maharashtra Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948 (Maharashtra Act 67 of 1948), the Revenue Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a well on Government land carrying on the sinking of a well on Government land shall make an application in Form 2 to the Revenue Divisional Officer within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Patwari shall ensure that demand notice is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Revenue Divisional Officer within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of Maharashtra.
