STANDING ORDER

To

All Revenue Inspectors,

Subject: The taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land under the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973 (Puducherry Act 9 of 1973), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Puducherry hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every mortgagee of agricultural land carrying on the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land shall make an application in Form 2 to the Sub-Divisional Officer within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Revenue Inspector shall ensure that survey number is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Sub-Divisional Officer within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Puducherry.
