STANDING ORDER

To

All Enforcement Officers,

Subject: The carriage of goods for hire by owners of a goods carriage under the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1957, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1957 (Karnataka Act 35 of 1957), the Transport Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the carriage of goods for hire by owners of a goods carriage.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a goods carriage carrying on the carriage of goods for hire shall make an application in Form 38 to the Licensing Authority within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Enforcement Officer shall ensure that toll is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Licensing Authority within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Karnataka.
