STANDING ORDER
To
All Forest Officers,
Subject: Mining within a forest area by owners of a mine within a forest under the Karnataka Forest Act, 1964, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Forest Act, 1964 (Karnataka Act 5 of 1964), the Environment Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to mining within a forest area by owners of a mine within a forest.
2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a mine within a forest carrying on mining within a forest area shall make an application in Form VII to the Divisional Forest Officer within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of one lakh rupees.
3. The Forest Officer shall ensure that consent is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Divisional Forest Officer within ninety days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Environment Department, Government of Karnataka.
