OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The running of a blood bank by blood banks under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act, 2007, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the running of a blood bank by blood banks is to be regulated under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act, 2007.

2. The matter has been examined. Every blood bank carrying on the running of a blood bank shall make an application in Form 25 to the State Medical Council within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of fifty thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the running of a blood bank is undertaken, and the State Medical Council shall dispose of it within twenty-one days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka.
