OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The running of a rice mill in a village by operators of a rice mill in a village under the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, 1959, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra on the manner in which the running of a rice mill in a village by operators of a rice mill in a village is to be regulated under the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, 1959.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a rice mill in a village carrying on the running of a rice mill in a village shall make an application in Form 4 to the Panchayat Samiti within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the running of a rice mill in a village is undertaken, and the Panchayat Samiti shall dispose of it within fourteen days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra.
