STANDING ORDER

All Executive Engineers,

Subject: The use of water by users of water under the Maharashtra Irrigation Act, 1976, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Irrigation Act, 1976 (Maharashtra Act 38 of 1976), the Home Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the use of water by users of water.

2. The matter has been examined. Every user of water carrying on the use of water shall make an application in Form C to the River Basin Authority within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Executive Engineer shall ensure that canal is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the River Basin Authority within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of Maharashtra.
