STANDING ORDER

All Extension Officers,

Subject: The keeping of a shop in a village market by shopkeepers in a village market under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the keeping of a shop in a village market by shopkeepers in a village market.

2. The matter has been examined. Every shopkeeper in a village market carrying on the keeping of a shop in a village market shall make an application in Form 3 to the Block Development Officer within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Extension Officer shall ensure that market is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Block Development Officer within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
