STANDING ORDER
To
All Secretaries of the Gram Panchayat,
Subject: The operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme under the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, 1959, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, 1959 (Maharashtra Act 3 of 1959), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme.
2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a rural water supply scheme carrying on the operation of a rural water supply scheme shall make an application in Form 8 to the Block Development Officer within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.
3. The Secretary of the Gram Panchayat shall ensure that building is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Block Development Officer within twenty-one days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra.
