STANDING ORDER

All Revenue Inspectors,

Subject: The sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land under the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, 1954, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, 1954 (West Bengal Act 1 of 1954), the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a well on Government land carrying on the sinking of a well on Government land shall make an application in Form 14 to the Land Tribunal within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Revenue Inspector shall ensure that land revenue receipt is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Land Tribunal within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.
