OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The running of a cinema by owners of a cinema under the Tamil Nadu Exhibition of Films on Television Screen through Video Cassette Recorders (Regulation) Act, 1984, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the running of a cinema by owners of a cinema is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Exhibition of Films on Television Screen through Video Cassette Recorders (Regulation) Act, 1984.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a cinema carrying on the running of a cinema shall make an application in Form II to the Press Council within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the running of a cinema is undertaken, and the Press Council shall dispose of it within sixty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
