STANDING ORDER

To

All Registrars of Inland Vessels,

Subject: The recruitment of seafarers by recruitments and placement agency for seafarers under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981 (Gujarat Act 30 of 1981), the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Gujarat hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the recruitment of seafarers by recruitments and placement agency for seafarers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every recruitment and placement agency for seafarers carrying on the recruitment of seafarers shall make an application in Form 8 to the Mercantile Marine Department within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of twenty-five thousand rupees.

3. The Registrar of Inland Vessels shall ensure that bill of lading is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Mercantile Marine Department within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Gujarat.
