STANDING ORDER
To
All Patwaris,
Subject: The possession of land by persons in possession of land under the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955 (West Bengal Act 10 of 1955), the Revenue Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the possession of land by persons in possession of land.
2. The matter has been examined. Every person in possession of land carrying on the possession of land shall make an application in Form 1 to the Revenue Divisional Officer within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.
3. The Patwari shall ensure that certificate of occupancy is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Revenue Divisional Officer within one hundred and twenty days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of West Bengal.
