OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The leasing of a village tank by lessees of a village tank under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the leasing of a village tank by lessees of a village tank is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of a village tank carrying on the leasing of a village tank shall make an application in Form 5 to the District Panchayat within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the leasing of a village tank is undertaken, and the District Panchayat shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
