OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: The keeping of a village shop by keepers of a village shop under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.
1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the keeping of a village shop by keepers of a village shop is to be regulated under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973.
2. The matter has been examined. Every keeper of a village shop carrying on the keeping of a village shop shall make an application in Form 3 to the Gram Panchayat within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.
3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the keeping of a village shop is undertaken, and the Gram Panchayat shall dispose of it within fourteen days of its receipt.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of West Bengal.
