STANDING ORDER
To
All Excise Officers,
Subject: The tapping of toddy by toddy tappers under the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909 (West Bengal Act 5 of 1909), the Education Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the tapping of toddy by toddy tappers.
2. The matter has been examined. Every toddy tapper carrying on the tapping of toddy shall make an application in Form H to the District Excise Officer within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.
3. The Excise Officer shall ensure that excisable article is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Excise Officer within twenty-one days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Education Department, Government of West Bengal.
