OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The granting of leases by lessors of immovable property under the Maharashtra Stamp Act, 1958, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Maharashtra on the manner in which the granting of leases by lessors of immovable property is to be regulated under the Maharashtra Stamp Act, 1958.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessor of immovable property carrying on the granting of leases shall make an application in Form C to the Collector within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of five rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the granting of leases is undertaken, and the Collector shall dispose of it within forty-five days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Maharashtra.
