OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: Mining within a forest area by owners of a mine within a forest under the Kerala Forest Act, 1961, regarding.
1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Energy Department, Government of Kerala on the manner in which mining within a forest area by owners of a mine within a forest is to be regulated under the Kerala Forest Act, 1961.
2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a mine within a forest carrying on mining within a forest area shall make an application in Form VIII to the Chief Wild Life Warden within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.
3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which mining within a forest area is undertaken, and the Chief Wild Life Warden shall dispose of it within forty-five days of its receipt.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Energy Department, Government of Kerala.
