STANDING ORDER

To

All Marriage Officers,

Subject: The solemnisation of marriages by registered priests under the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Act, 2024, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Act, 2024 (Uttarakhand Act 3 of 2024), the Social Welfare Department, Government of Uttarakhand hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the solemnisation of marriages by registered priests.

2. The matter has been examined. Every registered priest carrying on the solemnisation of marriages shall make an application in Form II to the Government of Uttarakhand within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Marriage Officer shall ensure that adoption order is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Uttarakhand within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Uttarakhand.
