OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The business of a shipping agent by shipping agents under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Labour Department, Government of Gujarat on the manner in which the business of a shipping agent by shipping agents is to be regulated under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981.

2. The matter has been examined. Every shipping agent carrying on the business of a shipping agent shall make an application in Form 3 to the Port Authority within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the business of a shipping agent is undertaken, and the Port Authority shall dispose of it within ninety days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Gujarat.
