OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The business of a pawnbroker by persons carrying on the business of a pawnbroker under the Karnataka Police Act, 1964, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the General Administration Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the business of a pawnbroker by persons carrying on the business of a pawnbroker is to be regulated under the Karnataka Police Act, 1964.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person carrying on the business of a pawnbroker carrying on the business of a pawnbroker shall make an application in Form III to the District Magistrate within seven days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the business of a pawnbroker is undertaken, and the District Magistrate shall dispose of it within seven days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the General Administration Department, Government of Karnataka.
