STANDING ORDER

To

All registering authorities,

Subject: The use of a transport vehicle by permit holders under the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1974, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1974 (Tamil Nadu Act 13 of 1974), the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the use of a transport vehicle by permit holders.

2. The matter has been examined. Every permit holder carrying on the use of a transport vehicle shall make an application in Form 23 to the Regional Transport Authority within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The registering authority shall ensure that certificate of fitness is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Regional Transport Authority within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
