STANDING ORDER

To

All Principal Officers,

Subject: The command of a ship by masters under the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1995), the Ports Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the command of a ship by masters.

2. The matter has been examined. Every master carrying on the command of a ship shall make an application in Form 1 to the Government of Tamil Nadu within seven days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Principal Officer shall ensure that ship is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Tamil Nadu within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
