OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The engagement of employees through an immediate employer by principal employers under the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the engagement of employees through an immediate employer by principal employers is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982.

2. The matter has been examined. Every principal employer carrying on the engagement of employees through an immediate employer shall make an application in Form 6 to the Commissioner within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the engagement of employees through an immediate employer is undertaken, and the Commissioner shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
