OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The use of water by users of water under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Ports Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the use of water by users of water is to be regulated under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876.

2. The matter has been examined. Every user of water carrying on the use of water shall make an application in Form B to the Government of West Bengal within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the use of water is undertaken, and the Government of West Bengal shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of West Bengal.
