OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The business of a pawnbroker by persons carrying on the business of a pawnbroker under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the business of a pawnbroker by persons carrying on the business of a pawnbroker is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person carrying on the business of a pawnbroker carrying on the business of a pawnbroker shall make an application in Form II to the Government of Tamil Nadu within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the business of a pawnbroker is undertaken, and the Government of Tamil Nadu shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
