STANDING ORDER

All Secretaries of the Gram Panchayat,

Subject: The holding of a fair by licensees of a fair under the Maharashtra Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis Act, 1962, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis Act, 1962 (Maharashtra Act 5 of 1962), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of a fair by licensees of a fair.

2. The matter has been examined. Every licensee of a fair carrying on the holding of a fair shall make an application in Form 1 to the Block Development Officer within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Secretary of the Gram Panchayat shall ensure that tax is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Block Development Officer within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra.
