STANDING ORDER

To

All Secretaries of the Gram Panchayat,

Subject: The execution of works for a Panchayat by contractors engaged by a Panchayat under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973 (West Bengal Act 41 of 1973), the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the execution of works for a Panchayat by contractors engaged by a Panchayat.

2. The matter has been examined. Every contractor engaged by a Panchayat carrying on the execution of works for a Panchayat shall make an application in Form 1 to the District Panchayat within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Secretary of the Gram Panchayat shall ensure that market is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Panchayat within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of West Bengal.
