OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The holding of securities in dematerialised form by depositories under the Maharashtra Stamp Act, 1958, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Maharashtra on the manner in which the holding of securities in dematerialised form by depositories is to be regulated under the Maharashtra Stamp Act, 1958.

2. The matter has been examined. Every depository carrying on the holding of securities in dematerialised form shall make an application in Form B to the State Government within six months, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the holding of securities in dematerialised form is undertaken, and the State Government shall dispose of it within six months of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Maharashtra.
