STANDING ORDER

All Executive Engineers,

Subject: The drawing of water from a river by riparian owners under the Maharashtra Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2009, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2009 (Maharashtra Act 26 of 2009), the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the drawing of water from a river by riparian owners.

2. The matter has been examined. Every riparian owner carrying on the drawing of water from a river shall make an application in Form A to the Government of Maharashtra within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Executive Engineer shall ensure that works is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Maharashtra within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra.
