OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Service on a ship by seamen under the Maharashtra Maritime Board Act, 1996, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Environment Department, Government of Maharashtra on the manner in which service on a ship by seamen is to be regulated under the Maharashtra Maritime Board Act, 1996.

2. The matter has been examined. Every seaman carrying on service on a ship shall make an application in Form 1 to the Director-General within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of fifty thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which service on a ship is undertaken, and the Director-General shall dispose of it within ninety days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Environment Department, Government of Maharashtra.
