STANDING ORDER

To

All Secretaries of the Gram Panchayat,

Subject: The execution of works for a Panchayat by contractors engaged by a Panchayat under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the execution of works for a Panchayat by contractors engaged by a Panchayat.

2. The matter has been examined. Every contractor engaged by a Panchayat carrying on the execution of works for a Panchayat shall make an application in Form 3 to the Block Development Officer within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Secretary of the Gram Panchayat shall ensure that building is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Block Development Officer within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
