STANDING ORDER
To
All Collectors,
Subject: The receipt of instruments in evidence by public officers under the Maharashtra Stamp Act, 1958, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Stamp Act, 1958 (Maharashtra Act 60 of 1958), the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the receipt of instruments in evidence by public officers.
2. The matter has been examined. Every public officer carrying on the receipt of instruments in evidence shall make an application in Form A to the Collector within one month, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.
3. The Collector shall ensure that instrument is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Collector within one month.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Maharashtra.
